Disaster Response Page
From October 10-20, Tropical Depression 12E and other storm systems merged to inundate communities throughout El Salvador with more than 6 feet of rain. The disaster caused widespread flooding and landslides, extensive damage to roads and other infrastructure, and significant loss of homes and crops. 34 lives were lost in El Salvador. The Greater Milwaukee Synod is committed to responding to this disaster by holding our Salvadoran brothers and sisters up in prayer and by giving of our financial resources to support the relief efforts.
Our Synod's Gifts for El Salvador Disaster Relief thus far = $11,000
These resources are available for use in your congregation. We can make a difference in the lives of people who are suffering if we work together to support relief efforts. This work will continue throughout 2012, as the Salvadoran Lutheran Church and the Lutheran World Federation work to rebuild infrastructure and housing and to replace seed for crops.
